VET-ENHANCE

Veterinary guidelines to support antimicrobial stewardship: enhancing implementation through behavioural interventions.

The project will exist of three consecutive phases. In the first phase, we will use the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) in a four-step approach to develop, test and evaluate a guideline implementation strategy:
1) constructing performance indicators;
2) identifying enablers and barriers of veterinarians and farmers related to follow the guideline in practice;
3) selecting theory-based behaviour change techniques and designing an implementation intervention;
4) designing an evaluation plan to assess the effectiveness of the implementation intervention.

In the second phase of the project, the developed implementation intervention will be tested in a Stepped-wedge design field trial. In phase three, the outcomes of the previous phases will be comprehensively reflected upon.
Ultimately, this will greatly enhance the development of future implementation strategies for veterinary guidelines and thereby contribute to antimicrobial stewardship.
