Novel vaccine vectors to resist pathogen challenge
The overall objective of the project is to develop novel vector-based vaccines eliciting mucosal immunity against the intracellular bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. We have different types of vectors, including viral, bacterial and plasmid-based vectors available, and will equip these with different C. trachomatis-derived antigen constructs, aimed to elicit humoral, CD8-T cell-based or a combination of the two responses. Vectors will be tested for immunogenicity in prime and prime boost combinations, and the most successful vaccine candidates will be tested for protective capacity in murine models of infection with human C. trachomatis serovars.
