Mitochondrial regulation of bone pain

The project has two main goals: firstly, explore the changes in mitochondrial specific functions in sensory neurons and osteoclasts in the context of bone pain and, secondly, investigate whether boosting mitochondrial functioning promotes resolution of bone pain. Providing proof-of-concept that targetting specific mitochondria function is effective to reduce pain in rodent models of osteoarthritis and cancer induced bone pain is one of the main expected results of this project.
