Human genetic determinants of invasive group A streptococcal host-pathogen interactions

The molecular basis of human specificity in group A streptoccocal host-pathogen interactions and clinical variability upon pathogen exposure  and subsequent (invasive) infection remain unknown. We aim to elucidate the human genetic determinants of invasive group A streptococcal host-pathogen interactions that may predispose to and underlie severe and potentially fatal invasive infections in ostensibly healthy individuals.
