Comprehensive surveillance of vaccine preventable respiratory bacteria using state-of-the-art molecular and genomic techniques

This PhD-project aims to further improve our tools for (molecular) surveillance of carriage, and to apply these techniques on existing cohort studies in the RIVM (OKIDOKI-6, Pienter-3, and Humen). Furthermore, we aim to improve our bio-informatic toolbox to study the effect of vaccination on population structure, distribution of virulence factors, and markers of antibiotic resistance in both carriage and disease.
