Broadly protective glycoconjugate vaccines targeting major animal and zoonotic Gram-positive pathogens

Streptococcus suis (S. suis) is an important pathogen in pigs worldwide, placing a considerable threat on both pig and human health. However, available vaccines do not prevent all the major epidemic S. suis serotypes and show limited efficacy. In this project, we use conserved cell wall polysaccharides as a cross-serotype protective antigen to develop a broadly protective glycoconjugate vaccine to prevent S. suis infection in pigs.
