Advanced topics

On November 23rd the new style of PhD students meeting “Advanced topics in I & I” will start with a one day expert meeting on dendritic cells headed by Esther de Jong from the AMC in Amsterdam.
The advanced topics in I & I meetings will provide a platform to discuss in depth on one specific topic with external experts. The details of these meetings are:
- Exclusively for PhD students of the I & I PhD programme.
- Max. 10 PhD students.
- 1 or 2 external experts and 1 UMC-based moderator.
- Duration is one full day.
- Frequency: 1 per year on Immunity and 1 per year on Infection.
The program for the first meeting
Location: Landgoed Oostbroek
09:30 - 10:00: Reception with coffee, tea
10:00 - 10:15: Opening by Edward Knol (moderator)
10:15 - 11:00: Introduction by Esther de Jong
11:00 - 12:30: Short presentations by PhD students on their own research topic
12:30 - 14:00: Work on statements in small working groups and Lunch
14:00 - 15:30: Presentation and discussion on statements*
15:30 - 16:30 Rounding up by Esther de Jong
*Statements will be like:
- There are so many subtypes of DC’s. We propose the following nomenclature…..
- All different DC subsets can promote different types of T cell responses
- DC’s derived from blood are poor representatives of the most relevant tissue en lymph node dwelling DC’s
- etc.etc.
The final statements and the required publications will only be send to the selected registered PhD students that participate in this meeting.
In case there are more that 10 registrations Esther de Jong and Edward Knol will make the final selection.
