Students who want to join the Master’s programme have to have basic knowledge in immunology and microbiology. Therefore the bachelor course “Infection and immunity” or an equivalent course of approximately 15 ects is a prerequisite. Master’s students have to follow 10 weeks of theoretical courses, mainly linked to their specialization. The aim is to give young scientists a profound background in fundamental immunology, clinical immunology including vaccination and immunotherapy against cancer as well as in infectious disease-oriented problems related to function and biology of microorganisms, molecular epidemiology of infections, microbial virulence and therapy resistance.
The focus of the programme lies on the practical assignments within a research group of the PhD programme Infection and Immunity (minor and major research projects) including a Master’s thesis.
